THE MC FEDERATION

WHO ARE THE MC FEDERATION?

The MC Federation (MCF) is an exciting and innovative organisation which understands the requirements for modern day motorcycle events. It has been created to not only stage leading events, but support and sanction all forms of motorcycle related competition and practice. Our no nonsense and approachable way of thinking is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise staid market full of red-tape. We are here to listen to and understand the requirements of each club and organisation that are keen to join the MCF – after all, every club is different and therefore needs to be treated as an individual case. Our insurance and risk management partners also play an important part in underpinning the current and future requirements of every club. They are also as keen as the MCF in developing a class leading platform for any UK club to benefit from.

Sport in general is progressing at speed and becoming an everyday way of life within society, so why should off road motorcycle sport be any different? The MCF doesn’t believe it should be; it’s a sport that is blessed with fantastic family values, on many occasions far more than many mainstream sports. With a long term vision to make sport more accessible and recognisable to people outside the realms of motorcycling, the MCF are driven to create the foundations on which the sport can build and compete with other sports in the public domain.

The MCF is driven by passion and managed by common sense; we’re in touch with the requirements of the sporting family of today. Right through from the riders who want a well organised event to the clubs that require just as much ‘back-room’ support and advice, the MCF are here to create and support at all levels. It’s our aim to make sure everyone involved, from land owner to spectator is satisfied. It’s our responsibility to take the sport to the general public whilst it’s our joint responsibility to stage risk aware events that follow a sensible and modern procedure.

HOW DID IT ALL START?

The MC Federation is the brainchild of two lifelong motocross fans who became disillusioned with the direction the sport was heading after attending one too many sterile races. With their knowledge and passion for the sport they soon set about starting their own race series. With the DEP supported two stroke championship growing and delivering the results they expected, it was realised that they really were on to something and they didn’t want to be governed by an organisation that failed to share their views. After banging their heads together whilst competing in a twin shock race meeting  the pair of them decided enough was enough and as simple as that, the MC Federation was conceived .

Matt has always believed that motocross has a bright future in the UK and took it upon themselves to make a difference. The MCF believes that with the right structure, a solid platform can be built to establish the sport and give it long term stability. The MCF aim to cater for everybody, from the grass roots of schoolboy motocross right through to pro level and groom the stars of tomorrow whilst always maintaining the ethos of this invigorating sport.

Since its birth, a great deal of work has been put into the development of a responsible organisation that can effectively look after the interests of its member clubs, it soon became evident that a good team of individuals were needed to be put together to nurture and develop and this is exactly what has happened. Any club that becomes a part of the MCF have access to some of the most knowledgeable minds across all aspects of the sport. Roy Barton was introduced in to the MCF towards the end of 2009 as General Manager and now spends his time keeping abreast of health, safety and litigation matters and ensuring that MCF member clubs can run their events safe in the knowledge that their best interests are in safe hands.

HOW CAN THE MCF HELP YOUR ORGANISATION?

The MCF are keen to explore every possible angle that assists in the smooth running of staging a modern day event, and with today’s constant source of immediate and cost effective communication, why shouldn’t we benefit from technology!

Through our databse gateway clubs have easy access to both e mail and text messaging services, allowing them to keep in touch with its members.

It might sound like a mad idea, but why not create your own club Facebook group? With ‘Social-Networking’ being the in thing for communication it’s yet another way of communicating with members and potential spectators. The MCF has Sean Lawless on hand to assist you in getting set up.

SUPPORT FROM THE OFFICE

The staff in the MCF office is there to look after the MCF clubs. All new clubs receive personal visits to discuss their individual needs and to be led through the paperwork which is unfortunately part and parcel of running any type of event these days, whether it’s a Motorcycle Event or Village Fete. Many members of the MCF staff have been involved in running events at all levels and understand the pressure on an organising club, with this in mind everything possible has been put in place to minimise the burden on volunteer club personnel.
We work closely with club officials to ensure that they understand the responsibilities of their relative positions and fully understand the obligations with regard to such things as health and safety issues, making things as effortless as possible. The friendly MCF staff is on hand in the office to answer any queries that you may have.
