The weather reports did not bode well for Aberdeen & District’s Club Round 4, on 25th August at Rhynie. With rain for most of the days leading up to the weekend, and drizzle and rain showers most of the morning, track conditions were treacherous in most of the corners, with ruts sometimes managing to claim a bike and its rider.
WD40 was on hand to try to keep the numbers clean for the lap-scorers, who did a fantastic job!
There was a good turn out again, with 85 riders competing in Round 4.
The Autos got the racing underway, with Reece Dawson riding well, even though they all struggled with the huge ruts that had been created in the practice races. Reece took the 1st race win of the day, and continued his good run to take the 2nd race win. Logan Hendry rode very well to take the 3rd race win of the day.
In the C’s, with 32 bikes on the line, the first to be over the line was anyone’s guess. Mike Scott managed to hold Brian Andrews off to take the 1st race win. The 2nd race started with Ian Souter taking the race lead and race win, with Brian Andrews in 2nd place, Mike Scott took 3rd place. For the 3rd race, Brian Andrews’ luck changed and he took the race win, followed by Phil Goffin riding well to take 2nd place.
The A’s and B’s were grouped together, but Simon Downing took a clear lead for the A’s and eventually finished in 1st place. Iain McKenzie took 1st place for the B’s. Aaron McCarroll was on a roll and riding very well, he took 1st place in race 2 and 3. The leaders for the B’s changed in each race, Graham McIntosh taking the 2nd race win, and John Marshall taking the 3rd race win.
Only 5 riders in the 125’s, and David Smith was certainly have a good day, he took 1st place in both the 1st and 2nd race, despite the torn up track from the previous races. Morgan Robertson took the lead and the race win from David Smith in race 3.
85’s Big and Small Wheel and 65’s classes were run together. For the Big Wheels, Ben Edwards emerged as the leader in all 3 races of the day and took all 3 race wins. For the Small Wheels, RJ MacKenzie took the 1st race win, but Troy Anderson managed to steal the win from RJ for the 2nd race. RJ managed to claw back the race win for race 3, with Troy eventually taking 3rd place, just behind Dylan Carnegie. With only 2 riders in the 65’s, Adam Scott and Jake McLeod, were each other’s competition, but Adam managed to hold Jake off to take all 3 race wins for the day.
The LAST Club Round is scheduled for 23rd September.
